Hi, I’m Amy Aubrey Dow.
I live in Chester, NJ with my husband, 2 kids, 2 cats, 3 fish, 1 snail & the best dog. For the last 7+ years, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom, which is its own kind of full-time job nobody fully prepares you for. Somewhere along the way, I started asking myself the question I’d been quietly avoiding: what do I want to be when I grow up? The answer turned out to be the thing I’ve always been: a writer.
I’ve been writing children’s books as my creative outlet for years & I’m so excited to finally be sharing them with the world. My debut picture book, The Mrs. Behind the Magic, arrives Christmas 2026.
Stepping into the world of publishing has been equal parts thrilling & terrifying. But here I am, doing it anyway. That’s where Nevertheless Press comes from: that quiet, stubborn voice that says Nevertheless, I’m doing this!
It’s also a small nod to “nevertheless, she persisted” — a feminist rallying cry for women who refuse to be silenced or talked out of their own ambitions. That felt right for what I’m building.
And then there’s the dragonfly.
A few years ago, I lost my brother. Every now & then, when I need him most, a dragonfly shows up & I know it’s him, letting me know he’s still with us. The dragonfly logo on every Nevertheless Press book is my way of carrying him with me into this new chapter.
